Apple Ditching Google Maps in Next Version of iOS
It looks as if Apple will be cutting the cord, and going it alone when it comes to mapping software for the next version of iOS. Based on information from “trusted sources”, 9to5Mac reports Apple will no longer use Google Maps, and will instead provide their own in-house maps app called, Maps. The big feature of Apple’s Maps app, will be its 3D mode. The 3D mode is said to provide “photo-realistic models of the world for search, navigation, and geographic information systems”. The next version of iOS, iOS 6 is expected to be announced mid-June at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC).
