The Galaxy Tab 2 finally has a release date.  PC World reports Samsung will be releasing the 7″ Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 April 22nd, with the 10.1″ Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 releasing May 13th.  If you are looking for the Galaxy Tab 2 to be a significant upgrade over the previous Galaxy Tab generation, you may be disappointed as not much has changed.  Travis Merrill, Samsung’s director of tablet marketing said “these devices were not intended to be a dramatic change in terms of hardware from the existing Galaxy Tabs because frankly we feel that the hardware on the existing Galaxy Tabs is still extremely competitive and still industry leading”.  Both the 7.0 and the 10.1 model will feature a 1ghz dual-core processor, 1gb of RAM, 3mp rear camera with vga front, microSD card slot, IR blaster (for controlling devices such as surround sound systems or televisions), and the most notable feature, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.  The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will feature a 7″ 1024×600 display, while the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will feature a 10.1″ 1280×800 display. The 7″ model of the Galaxy Tab 2 will be priced starting at $249.99 and the 10.1″ model will start at $399.99.
