Google Selling Unlocked Galaxy Nexus for $399

April 24, 2012 in News by Hashim Fannin

Looks like Google is going to give it another go.  Today Google announced it has begun selling the GSM Unlocked Galaxy Nexus online in the Google Play Store.  With a $399 price tag, Google has priced the Galaxy Nexus quite aggressively.  The GSM unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus features a pentaband radio that will allow it to function on all GSM networks.  In other words, yes it will work on T-Mobile, and yes it will work on AT&T.  Google has stated their purpose in offering devices directly is that they “want to give you a place to purchase Nexus devices that work really well with your digital entertainment”.  This move is not without precedent, as Google did attempt to sell the first Nexus smartphone, the Nexus One themselves.  Of course Google’s attempt at selling the Nexus One was nowhere near a success.  Hopefully this time around, things go a bit differently.
