I am Bored with the Galaxy Nexus

Bored

Before I get into why I am bored with my Galaxy Nexus, I should give you a bit of background. 聽I used to replace my phone constantly with whatever was latest and greatest. 聽I was one of those guys that was in a perpetual upgrade cycle. 聽When the Nexus S came out, I bought it, and eventually upgraded to a LG G2X. 聽After being quite dissatisfied with the G2X, I upgraded to the HTC Sensation. 聽The Sensation was decent, but still had more issues than I cared to deal with. 聽As a result, I went back to the Nexus S. 聽I found that my single core Nexus S (stock) ran better than both the Sensation and G2X. 聽Bear in mind, both of those phones 聽are dual-core. 聽Once I observed the Nexus S being a better phone, I decided from that point, for future phones, it would be Nexus or nothing. 聽Eventually, the Galaxy Nexus would be released, which I purchased immediately. 聽I have since been out of the perpetual upgrade rat race. 聽I have been using my Galaxy Nexus since its release.

The reason I now find myself bored with the Galaxy nexus is an interesting one. 聽In the past, I’ve always looked forward to the release of other phones, because they filled a gap of something I found to be missing in my current phone. 聽I would install custom ROMS in an attempt to deal with whatever shortcomings I felt a device had. 聽Custom ROMS would typically come with their own set of issues, so they aren’t necessarily a solution. 聽This is why I’d find myself upgrading to whatever high-end phone was released. 聽With the Galaxy Nexus, I don’t have this problem. 聽My Galaxy Nexus is 100% stock. 聽I have no need for a custom ROM on it, because I have no issues with it. 聽I don’t require a faster ROM, because I don’t have any speed/lag issues with the phone. 聽There really aren’t any features that I find myself feeling that I need so badly, I’d leave the stability of the stock ROM, and enter the never-ending beta test that is custom ROM usage. 聽Simply put, I am bored with my Galaxy Nexus because I don’t need to do anything to it. 聽All I had to was customize the phone to my liking, and that was it. 聽Of course, that’s the goal of a company releasing a smartphone. 聽You shouldn’t have to mod it, just to make it usable. 聽Google and Samsung most definitely accomplished this, and as a result I am bored. 聽I am patiently waiting for the release of the next Nexus smartphone.
