NFC Payments at the Gas Pump Coming in the Future
We’ve been saying it all along, Isis is playing for keeps. For those that don’t know, Isis is the NFC payment mobile commerce joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Today Isis announced yet another strategic partnership that will undoubtedly add to what will eventually become a stranglehold on the NFC payment market. Isis has now partnered with Wayne and Gilbarco Veeder-Root, market leaders in fuel dispensers. In plain English, Isis’ partnership with Wayne and Gilbarco Veeder-Root will provide Isis customers with the ability to pay at the gas pump using NFC. Initially, Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Wayne SmartTap-enabled dispensers will be installed in select locations in Isis’ launch markets of Salt Lake City and Austin. From there, the SmartTap systems will be installed at gas stations across the country, allowing for NFC payments to be accepted at the pump.
