A couple days ago, several tech news outlets (not us) ran a story about Samsung suing the Australian Patent Office in an attempt to force a judicial review of four of Apple’s patents. 聽Samsung has since made an official statement addressing the news of them “suing” the Australian Commissioner of Patents. 聽In short, Samsung is making it known this not true, and they are indeed not suing the Australian Patent Office. 聽In the statement, Samsung referred to the reports as “inaccurate”, and went further to clarify things, stating聽they are “not making any allegations of wrong-doing against the Commissioner”. 聽Samsung gives even further clarification of how the Australian Commissioner became involved, stating “because of a procedural requirement of Australian law, the Commissioner has been joined in Samsung’s invalidity case against Apple in the Australian Federal Court proceedings.” 聽All in all, Samsung isn’t suing the Australian Patent Office, and is instead “simply complying with Australian procedural requirements so it can make all possible invalidity arguments against Apple’s dubious patents.”
