Samsung’s Galaxy S III is certainly raising the bar. 聽Not only is the Galaxy S III turning heads when it comes to specs, but also when it comes to features. 聽The Galaxy S III brings with it several cutting edge features including:

  • Smart Stay – How many times have you been reading something on your smartphone, and the screen dims out and turns off while you’re still reading? 聽Smart Stay rectifies that issue, as it聽“recognizes how you are using your phone 鈥 reading an e-book or browsing the web for instance 鈥 by having the front camera identify your eyes; the phone maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure”.
  • S Voice – This appears to be Samsung’s answer to Siri. 聽S Voice utilizes natural language voice input, but takes it a step further than what we’ve seen. 聽S Voice provides not only input with voice, but also device control via voice. 聽For example, when your phone’s alarm goes off, you can simply tell it to “snooze”, and enjoy a few minutes more of sleep. 聽“You can also use S Voice to play your favorite songs, turn the volume up or down, send text messages and emails, organize your schedules, or automatically launch the camera and capture a photo. “
  • Direct Call – While sending a message to someone, if you decide instead to call them, simply put the phone to your ear, and the Galaxy S III will initiate a call to that person.
  • Smart Alert – As a reminder for missed calls, messages, etc, the phone will vibrate when you pick it up. 聽Ex: 聽You have a missed text message on your phone that you didn’t know was there. 聽You’re about to leave the house, so you pick up the phone to put it in your pocket. 聽When you pick it up, it vibrates. 聽You look at your phone and see that missed text message.
  • S Beam – This is very similar to Android Beam, where you transfer information between two devices via NFC. 聽Where S Beam differs is that unlike Android Beam, S Beam can be used to transfer large files. 聽With S Beam, a 1gb file can聽“be shared within three minutes and a 10MB music file within two seconds by simply touching another GALAXY S III phone”.
  • Allshare Cast – Allows a user to wirelessly stream smartphone content to their television.
  • Allshare Play – Allows a user “to instantly share any forms of files between GALAXY S III and your tablet, PC, and televisions regardless of the distance between the devices.” 聽”Under AllShare Play is also the 鈥楪roup Cast鈥 feature that allows you to share your screen among multiple friends on the same Wi-Fi network; you can make comments and draw changes at the same time with your co-workers, witnessing real-time sharing on your individual device.”
  • Pop Up Play – This feature allows the user to play video anywhere on the screen while completing other tasks. 聽In other words, you could be responding to an email, and watching a video at the same time. 聽By utilizing Pop Up Play, you could have a video playing while you browse the web, all on the same screen.
