Samsung’s Galaxy S III to Showcase Visa NFC Payments at London 2012 Olympics

Back in February, Visa announced they would be partnering with Samsung聽to debut their Paywave based mobile NFC payments app at the London 2012 Olympics. 聽Visa has now released more information regarding the debut. 聽Samsung’s Galaxy S III will be the launch platform for Visa’s Paywave app, and “a聽limited edition showcase device enabled with Visa鈥檚 mobile payment application, Visa payWave, will be available for Samsung and Visa sponsored athletes and trialists”. 聽Those fortunate enough to have access to Paywave will have many places to use it, as Visa says “by the time of the Olympic Games there will be more than 140,000 contactless terminals around the UK”. 聽Unfortunately, Visa did not state whether or not the Paywave app will be made available to the general public during this debut.
