Sprint’s Upcoming Smartphone Insurance Changes Show They Have Lost Their Minds
News has leaked that Sprint intends to go to a tiered system for their Total Equipment Protection Plan. I have no problem with Sprint going to a tiered system, since it should cost more to insure a higher-end phone. Where I have a problem, is Sprint’s disgustingly high deductibles. For any high-end phone (phones costing $600 or more), there is a $200 deductible when filing a claim. That is beyond ridiculous. To give you an idea of how insanely high that is, Squaretrade’s deductible is only $99. Sprint’s new deductible will be twice as high as many other smartphone insurance company’s (bear in mind there are several others with comparable deductibles). I would advise anyone who is on Sprint to forego the Total Equipment Protection Plan, and procure insurance for their devices on their own. With deductibles twice as high as several other smartphone insurance companies, it is clear that whoever is responsible for the upcoming insurance changes, has lost their mind.
