T-Mobile to Keep Sidekick Line Alive…To that, We Ask…Why?

Sidekick 4G Discontinued

T-Mobile has officially discontinued the Sidekick 4G, but has stopped short of discontinuing the Sidekick line as a whole. 聽In a statement given to The Verge, T-Mobile says “While the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is being retired, it doesn鈥檛 mean we are discontinuing the T-Mobile Sidekick line. T-Mobile continues to update and expand its 4G product portfolio and we鈥檒l keep you posted when we have news to share on T-Mobile鈥檚 latest 4G devices.” 聽After reading that, one word comes to mind…WHY? 聽In today’s world, with the smartphone landscape the way it is, what is the point of the Sidekick? 聽It was nice they made an attempt at resurrecting the dead, but in the end it was a failure. 聽Putting the middle of the road specs to the side, the Sidekick still seemed like an archaic device due to its design. 聽It simply didn’t seem like a device that belonged in 2011. 聽It looked like a phone that escaped the past in a time machine. 聽Unfortunately for T-Mobile, most people aren’t interested in purchasing relics to use as their daily use smartphone. 聽Bottom line is, unless Samsung plans on drastically revamping the next Sidekick, it will be a waste of time and yet another failure.
