Verizon Doing Away with Unlimited Data Plans
The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. So the news Verizon will be phasing out its unlimited data plan for grandfathered customers, comes as no surprise at all. During an earnings call, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo, stated Verizon plans to force customers upgrading to LTE devices, to change their data plan to a shared one. As a result of the move to a shared data plan, unlimited data customers grandfathered in, will lose their unlimited data. Shammo put it very plainly, stating “you will have to go onto the data share plan, moving away from the unlimited world”, once you upgrade to an LTE device. Verizon plans to institute this new policy of forcing grandfathered unlimited data customers to shared data plans, mid-summer. Enjoy your unlimited data while you still can.
