Verizon Doing Away with Unlimited Data Plans

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. 聽So the news Verizon will be phasing out its unlimited data plan for grandfathered customers, comes as no surprise at all. 聽During an earnings call, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo, stated Verizon plans to force customers upgrading to LTE devices, to change their data plan to a shared one. 聽As a result of the move to a shared data plan, unlimited data customers grandfathered in, will lose their unlimited data. 聽Shammo put it very plainly, stating “you will have to go onto the data share plan, moving away from the unlimited world”, once you upgrade to an LTE device. 聽Verizon plans to institute this new policy of forcing grandfathered unlimited data customers to shared data plans, mid-summer. 聽Enjoy your unlimited data while you still can.
